2008 Summer Leadership Seminars Continue the Trend to Expand

Myitkyina joins the list of locations hosting the Summer Leadership Seminars of Myanmar Vision Ministries

JAMES KHONG (YANGON, MYANMAR) - Leaderships Seminars were very different and exciting this year. We were split up into 3 groups so our outreach could be great this year. This is the first year the seminars were held in Myitkyina. Everyone was so excited and classes were very successful. While part of the group taught in Myitkyina part taught a mini seminar in Yangon and this was also successful in a new and meaningful way. We had more church pastors than ever before attend the Yangon seminars and left feeling blessed with new ideas and on fire to bring the info. They learned to their congregations. The smaller groups allowed for much more relationship building and people were more at ease with the teachers. After Mitchina and Yangon the group went up north to Putao to visit Christian villages and bring encouragement to them. This was the first time we were allowed to go up to Putao. This trip was not only encouraging for us, but very encouraging and uplifting to church pastors and women's ministry leaders who had the opportunity to share their needs and concerns and talk to Christians from America. Some of the villages we visited had not had foreign visitors since the Missionaries were kicked out of Putaou in 1962. These missionaries were the Morse family who were there in Putao ministering for 18 years to the Lisu and Rawang. The Villagers told us of their stories and how appreciative they were to America for sending Missionaries like the Morse's who brought them to a saving relationship in Christ.

After Putao another group went to Sitway on the Thai border to continue the seminars with Thai and Burmese leaders together. They were so happy to be a part of these Leadership Seminars and hope that they will be able to be a part of them again in the future.

So little time, so much to do and so much is needed. The seminars have been going on for 10 years now and have made a huge impact to ministry and the way people minister and lead in the name of Jesus. James and Myanmar Vision Ministries believe they are where they are now in their relationships with Christ and outreach to the Lost because of the Summer leadership seminars impact on Leaders lives.

As well as these seminars they have started the Burmese tract of summer leadership seminars, a 3 month bible school, continuing graduate classes for EBI students that are taught by Professors from bible colleges who come to teach from Australia, USA and India. One of the outreach impacts of the Seminars in Yangon is a series of Youth seminars being held up in Putao, two years in a row now. Youth leaders trained in Yangon at the Summer leadership seminars are bringing this up North. We cant do this, it has to be the nationals who teach up north. This is a huge breakthrough as they are in danger of loosing a whole generation of youth up North due to the outside influences of China, India, Tibet and the Military Government drawing them away to work in the gem mines with the promise of a better life when they get there. Please keep this in your prayers as these leaders try to reach a lost generation for Christ and bring purpose back into their lives. So many are dying who have no saving relationship in Him. They are going to Hell and only the youth leadership seminars are going to make a difference in this generation.

Pray for all these seminars and the impact they continue to have on leading the way Jesus would have us lead. He is our best teacher, and we need to help this teaching to spread like wild fire throughout the land.
