Recent Update from James and Marta Khong (May 27, 2008)
Myanmar Vision Ministries continues to bring hope to many. We rented a large truck and have been able to bring in many supplies because of your help. People are still smiling but some are wandering around like they have lost their minds. They are in shock. It looks like the aftermath can still kill many if they are not helped. We held a medical seminar at Tamwe Christian Center, training many and they are now knowledgeable to help the victims with new understanding of what needs to be done. The third group came back just this morning and they are now viewing pictures and hearing reports.

Teams from Myanmar Vision Ministries have been to some island villages where cyclone victims have not had any rescue workers there yet. The people want to work for their survival but they need to eat first. They want to harvest what crops are left, but they could not afford gasoline to run their ploughing machines.

They eat the coconut sprouts, but that cause dysentery. Peoples' scars and bruises are infected are not properly treated.

So we will have to find ways that are effectively touching the lives of the people there. What they now need is physical survival.

The critical needs are:

1. Water
2. Rice
3. Seeds for planting the rice fields - seeds that can stand salty soil
4. funds for gasoline to run their ploughing machines
5. funds to rebuild shelters
6. funds to buy buffalo and cattle to help work the fields again

We are working together to help supply what we can. Pray for continued outreach and for funds to come in to help us supply these people who had little to begin with but now who have lost it all. They are a hard working people and want to get back to their life. They don’t want to live on aid for their survival. We can get them back on their feet with your help. We will report more again. Keep everyone in prayer as we work to bring life back to these people.
