Mrade Fishing Project
APRIL 2010 – WRITTEN BY JAMES KHONG
This morning, talking with the young man (in the photo shown here) who came back from Mrade fishing work was so enlightening about the work and the potential success for the future. I will write the above daily diary orally and have someone transcript it for me to give you a hint of what going on here and how we are going through our daily, mostly, unplanned routines.
Conclusions from the Current status of Mrade fishing work.
1. This last round had been the most successful one in this season. They catched 1,300 baskets and were able to clear current debts. (Having this catch was what we already knew before hand, but hearing the detail of the work from Deeshar was the part that inspired us more).
2. They should have caught three four times more than that. But the engine died several times in the middle of when they were pulling out fish.
3. One time a big fish rounded broke the net and the old net got broken and ended up catching 3 baskets only when they were to catch by hundreds.
4. The young man, EBI student who was sent to the fishing work with D Kawsan the EBI professor said words of thanks when I said thanks to him. He said, “Thanks to pastor Khong and MVM men. I have learned so much from this work. This is a very valuable experience for me.
5. That was what was encouraging to me. Now he is planning to go back to Putao because he has not been going home for five years. I believe he will be the ones who will recruit potential workers for the fishing work there.
6. I need to send Dagung ASAP eventhough we boiught ticket for him to go and teach at Taung Gok seninars. SOmene esle will go to that place and he must go back to Marde soon.
7. $1,000 is needed urgently to assist the work so that fishing work will not loose from poorly equipped tools during this last season. It has only about one month. If funds available, $2,000 will be needed to make sure the success. But $1,000 is urgent.
8. This work definitely has potential to generate funds for ministries in many parts of Myanmar. It has potential to generate $10,000 worth cash with in a season. We now know what to do for next season, but this season they need to clear themselves from the debts.
I believe this work had to be done with out we planning but just coming to us when we were not looking for it. So it must be God's plan. So we will not give upon this even though it involves a lot of challenges.
In Christ,
James
